There exists in the world a whole set of economic forces that the West and Americans in particular seem rather naive about and not just a little unprepared for. This Age of Globalization has brought America into a tough neighborhood, one that may look deceptively familiar, but operates under rules and traditions quite alien to the American sense of fair play. Certainly our increasing dealing in Southeast Asia is a case in point. Perhaps the situation may be best summarized this way:
“We’re not in Kansas anymore.”
